What a night! Maybe you cuddled on the couch, watched music specials and played Scrabble; celebrated with a big group of family, or danced the night away with friends. When the ball dropped you sang, “Should old acquaintances be forgotten…” lifted your champagne flute in the air and embraced the surrounding loved ones. Some years are more eventful than others but each set you on the doorstep of January 1st and you either wake refreshed and energized or in need of a ‘Happy New Year Hangover Remedy’. After you down a glass of water to hydrate, grab your oils and let aromatherapy ease you into New Year’s Day. The following scents can help relieve a headache and soothe nausea. Try diffusing the following or applying these scents topically to pacify the discretions of last night!
Peppermint – The aroma of peppermint provides a one-two punch as it can treat both a headache as well as nausea. Diffuse Peppermint Swirl or Nama fragrance oil so the fresh scent can calm nausea. For your headache, dilute a few drops of Peppermint essential oil in coconut or almond oil and carefully apply to your temples avoiding your eyes. The oil will create an immediate cooling sensation and will help ease the pain while simultaneously providing an aromatic benefit.
Grapefruit – If you stayed up late last night but need to stay alert at work today or have to entertain the kids who are STILL on holiday break, try Grapefruit blends. All natural Rosemary Grapefruit Lime fragrance oil contains natural rosemary, white grapefruit, a citrus medley of orange, lime, lemon, and tangerine. These oils will uplift and energize when you need to power through the morning fog. Stimulate your senses with Exotic Grapefruit Sea Salt, a citrusy tropical herbaceous type with notes of lime, grapefruit, and peppermint. Organic White Grapefruit essential oil can also be applied to your wrists or neck to keep you energized throughout the day!
Lavender – Some of us may require a nap at some point today. Diffuse Coconut Milk Lavender, a beautiful blend of lush lavender, silky coconut milk, sweet coconut shavings, and sugary vanilla. Soft, beautiful, and light – the perfect scent for relaxation. Organic Lavender essential oil can be added to a bath or a few drops on the floor of a steam shower to prepare you for restful sleep.
Lemon – Need a clean fresh start or mid day break today? Try Lemon Verbena, an all- natural crisp and clean blend of citrus, floral and wood. You can also combine Lemon essential oil with Eucalyptus to boost energy and relieve fatigue.
Any or a combination of these oils throughout the day will help expedite your recovery. You will be on your feet and fulfilling your resolutions in no time.
