‘Winter Is Coming’ Balm

At what age did you start to feel the seasons change in your bones?  Maybe you notice it in your own hands, knees, and back or hear your loved ones talk about how they can sense, “winter is coming,” in their joints.  Achy bones are a reality for many people this time of year as chilly temperatures begin to creep into our every day.  At Nature’s Oil, one thing is for sure, we won’t let a creaky bone get in the way of our fall fun!  In order to tame our testy joints from our neck to our toes, we are using this homemade balm to help alleviate arthritic pains.  Create a batch for yourself or Grandma so that she doesn’t miss out on hayrides or baking your favorite oatmeal apple crisp!

Ingredients

6 Rounded Tablespoons of Coconut Oil

2 Tablespoon Jojoba Oil

2 Tablespoon Almond Oil

1 Tablespoon Vitamin E Oil

10 – 15 Drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil

10 – 15 Drops Marjoram Essential Oil

8 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil

8 Drops Lavender Essential Oil

8 Drops Rosemary Essential Oil

5 Drop Ginger Essential Oil

*For this recipe, we recommend using Nature’s Oil Certified Organic Essential Oils for each oil listed above.  Also, you can swap any skin friendly carrier oil for the jojoba, almond, and vitamin e if you do not have handy.  For example, olive oil will work just fine!

Directions

Place your coconut oil in a bowl and add the jojoba, almond, and vitamin e oils.  Work together with the back of a spoon and then add your certified organic essential oils one by one.  The coconut oil may take some time to breakdown but the more you work the ingredients together the smoother the mixture will cream.  Once all ingredients are combined, we recommend storing in an airtight container in the refrigerator.  Like other Nature’s Oil balm recipes, this balm is best utilized by shaving a dime sized amount out of the container and applying to joint / spot in need.  As you apply to your warm skin, the coconut oil will soften and the essential oils will work their magic through a combined aroma therapy and topical relief sensations.
